Jessie's Party

If you tune in regularly to Mix FM Radio or are an avid viewer of A Current Affair you should be aware of the tragic story of Jessie Schroder.

Six year old Jessie tragically died on the 13th January 2009 as a result of the debiliating effects of the advanced stages of a Wilm's tumour. Prior to her death Jessie had one wish and that was to invite all sick kids on the Sunshine Coast to a 'Party in the Park'. That dream came true on the 29th November 2008 when 'Jessie's Party' was thrown at Fraser Park, Golden Beach.

All those who attend the party that day will remember it as a fantastic event. There were jumping castles, face painting, boat rides and a sausage sizzle to name but a few of the highlights. In addition Moo-Lolly-Bar donated a massive 'pass the parcel' which featured on A Current Affair and was enjoyed by more than 50 participants!

Today Jessie was honoured with another 'Party in the Park'. This time as part of Mix FM's month long annual 'Give Me Five For Kid's Appeal. It was another wonderful occasion with Moo-Lolly-Bar's 'Guess The Number of Jelly Beans Competition' being amongst the main draws. Over 180 people entered and the winner was Felicity Ripper of Noosa whose guess of 782 was closest to the actual number of 771 jelly beans in the jar. Her prize was a beautiful gift hamper containing over $50 worth of chocolates and lollies.

The real winner however was the 'Give Me Five For Kid's Appeal' which by the end of the month is expected to have raised more than $250,000 for the children's ward of the Nambour general hospital. In these troubled financial times the generousity of all the Sunshine Coast locals who donated to this appeal is truly humbling.

Joke of the Week

A guy found a bottle on the ocean, and opened it, and poof! out popped a genie who promptly gave him 3 wishes.

Firstly the guy wished for a million dollars and poof! the genie made a million dollars magically appear.

Then he wished for a porsche and poof! The genie made a porsche appear.

Finally he wished to be irresistible to all women. The genie thought for a second...........then......poof!

He turned him in to a bar of Hershey's Milk Chocolate!
